Jet Aviation Launches Inspections by Automated Drone and AI in U.S.

Jet Aviation announces that it has launched its automated drone and artificial intelligence (AI) technology for non-regulated inspections in the U.S. The inspection reports can be used to enhance the accuracy of existing services, such as pre-purchase inspections (PPIs) or inspections in insurance or warranty cases.

Jet Aviation first introduced automated drone and AI technology for non-regulated inspections at its MRO hub and global headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, in 2023, in cooperation with Donecle, a provider of drone and artificial intelligence technology for the aviation industry. In 2024 the process was approved by the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) for general visual inspections (GVIs) by images.

Offering this service in a new region is part of Jet Aviation’s continued commitment to innovation across its global network. Jet Aviation’s U.S.-based managed and FBO customers can now utilize the technology to gain digital reports that map the exterior surface of their aircraft for reference or for use in existing aircraft operational events, such as PPI or warranty cases.

“We are incredibly excited to work with our colleagues in Europe to bring this new and unique service to our customers in the U.S.,” says David Best, senior vice president of regional operations and general manager, Americas. “Our team is committed to listening to and working closely with our customers to grow our regional offering in ways that make a real difference to the owner and operator experience. The drone and AI technology offers our managed and FBO customers additional peace of mind, providing an accurate, comprehensive, digitized report of the exterior of the aircraft for their records now and in the future. We look forward to continuing to explore this service and bringing even more innovative solutions to customers in the region.”

The technology is available for a wide range of business-jet and narrow-body aircraft types, as well as a growing number of wide-body aircraft.

Jet Aviation is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) with over 4,500 employees and 50 locations worldwide. The company’s offerings include aircraft management, aircraft sales, charter, completions, government programs, FBO, maintenance and staffing.
