Wimborne, Dorset, UK - Robert "Bob" Murphy will take over as Cobham's CEO on June 25, 2012, and will relocate to Cobham's Wimborne office. On Nov. 18, 2011, Cobham announced that Chief Executive Officer Andy Stevens had decided to take early retirement. Chairman John Devaney assumed the position of executive chairman during conduction of the search for Stevens' successor.

Friedrichshafen, Germany - Erik Lindbergh, grandson of Charles and Anne Morrow Lindbergh, announced the AERO 2012 winner of the Lindbergh Prize at AERO-Friedrichshafen. The Lindbergh Foundation's aviation prizes recognize and stimulate innovation, and promote meaningful advancements in green aviation. e-volo won the AERO 2012 Lindbergh Prize for Innovation for the achievements of its Volocopter VC1, a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) system.

Oshkosh, WI - A rare Junkers JU 52 tri-motor will appear as part of the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2012 flight line as part of the airplane’s North American tour. The JU 52 will be at Oshkosh throughout the week and be parked on AirVenture’s showcase ramp. It will be open for tours while on display and will also be featured during the afternoon flight. EAA AirVenture 2012, “The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration,” will occur July 23-29 at Wittman Regional Airport. German-based company RIMOWA is sponsoring the airplane’s visit.

Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. company, announces it has opened a new office in New Delhi for all of its operations in India.
Bell Helicopter has had a presence in India for nearly 20 years, opening a liaison office in 1995. There are currently more than 100 Bell aircraft operating throughout India.
Currently, there are two Bell Helicopter Customer Service Facilities in the region. Deccan Aviation, located in Bangalore, and Air Works, located in Mumbai. Bell Helicopter also has full-time Customer Service representation.

Big Ass Fans launched the Yellow Jacket fan in spring 2011 for use in industrial, commercial and agricultural settings. The Yellow Jacket is now available with a high-pressure misting system. Big Ass Fans added an oscillator to the fan as well. These two improvements, combined with Yellow Jacket’s established airflow, translate to a cooling effect equivalent to 11 tons of air conditioning.

As a business owner, I always take note of the companies that I deal with from the other side of the counter — even if it’s not aviation related. Whenever I have a good or bad experience, I like to take it as a learning experience.
It seems in the last few months, I’ve either experienced or witnessed extreme ends of the spectrum with regards to customer service.

DMA Aero introduces the PAMB10/11 Precision Pressure Standard offering both pitot static and direct pressure/vacuum measurements throughout the atmospheric pressure range.
