Global Filtration announces a distribution agreement with Parker Hannifin for all of its new PMA filters and hardware. In addition, Global announces a new metal sintered fiber media for replacing the old fiberglass technology. The new metal fiber elements are made from layers of a high porosity sintered stainless steel matrix. This media is sinter welded where the individual wires come into contact with each other, thus providing a stronger filter media that is resistant to the factors that cause current fiberglass media to fail.

The general aviation community has banded together to urge the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to address critical barriers to ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance—Broadcast) equipage, including high cost and lack of certified solutions for some types of aircraft.
In a joint letter sent to FAA Administrator Michael Huerta on Jan. 23, 14 general aviation groups representing tens of thousands of aircraft owners asked the FAA to take aggressive steps that would allow more aircraft to meet the agency’s mandate to equip for ADS-B Out by 2020.

If you work for or operate an FBO or flight school that offers aircraft rental as well as flight instruction, whether Part 61 or 141, you know the timing for completing aircraft inspections can be confusing. I’m not talking about the annual inspection that must be conducted on all aircraft every 12 calendar months or sooner pursuant to 14 C.F.R. 91.409(a). That requirement isn’t particularly confusing. Rather, it is the 100-hour inspection under 14 C.F.R. 91.409(b) and its timing and limitations that are sometimes misunderstood.

Last month we reviewed the three possible responses to giving feedback: rationalization (“it’s not my fault”), refuting their actions (“It didn’t happen that way”), or agreeing with the perception of others (“you’re right”). By far, the last option is the most desirable because defenses are down and there is a willingness to change.

Head down the main entrance drive of Duncan Aviation’s Lincoln, Nebraska, facility and you’ll see a Learjet 35 set atop a 20-foot stand, slightly tilted, as if frozen in time during takeoff.
The company jet flew for nearly 13,000 hours and boasted more than 10,000 landings at the time of its retirement in 2009. Though Duncan Aviation team members sold the aircraft’s engines and all salvageable parts, they kept the shell of the aircraft intact for years before it made its shift to sculpture along the main entrance drive of Duncan Aviation’s Lincoln, NE facility.
