Lufthansa Technik AG develops another solution to avoid unscheduled maintenance actions. It's called the Logo Light Protector. The light protector avoids damage that can occur while removing a logo light located in the horizontal stabilizer of the Boeing 777. Until now, there has been an inherent risk of damage to the GFRP surface layer of the stabilizer while removing the sealant around the cover of the logo light. The sealant is often cemented on the aircraft surface. In this case, the delamination of the surface requires time-consuming repair at a significant cost.

Associated Air Center (AAC), StandardAero's large transport category VIP completions center, redelivers the company's and the industry’s first Boeing 787-8 Head of State aircraft completion. Zenith Aviation, an aircraft parts supply and logistics support company, is appointed a fully authorized distributor for Hutchinson Aerospace and Barry Controls Aerospace. The agreement allows Zenith to represent Hutchinson’s full line of vibration isolators, engine mount systems, APU mounting systems, electrical harnesses, and other engine components for the full line of commercial, regional, and general aviation aircraft.

Cessna Aircraft Company, a subsidiary of Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. company, announces the partner universities selected for its 2016 Top Hawk program. Kent State University, LeTourneau University, Purdue University and Westminster College will each take delivery of a new, custom branded Cessna Skyhawk 172 aircraft in February to support flight training, recruiting efforts and promotional activities at their respective universities throughout the year.

Boeing (NYSE: BA) announces that Aeromexico has signed an agreement to implement Boeing Maintenance Performance Toolbox Records to support maintenance operations for its Next-Generation 737, 767, 777, 787 and non-Boeing fleets. The announcement came during Aviation Week’s MRO Latin America 2016 conference and exhibition in Lima, Peru. Aeromexico is the sixth airline to sign up for the popular new module since its launch in October 2015.

Philippine Airlines and Lufthansa Technik AG sign a five-year total component maintenance (TCM) contract for the airline's Airbus A320 and A340 fleets. The services will be extended end of 2016 to support additional Airbus 320s operated by Philippine Airlines. Lufthansa Technik will support Philippine Airlines at its main base in Manila. The component service offices in Manila and Shenzhen will coordinate the customer support. Maintenance, repair and overhaul services will be carried out at Lufthansa Technik's component centres in Hamburg, Germany and Shenzhen, China.

DAC International, a Greenwich AeroGroup company, announces that its latest A-D (analog-digital) converter, model GDC62, has been used as part of a European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) supplemental type certificate. The GDC62 accepts analog inputs from various radio altimeter models and converts the signal to ARINC 429 format that is compatible with currently available TCAS II digital processors. The GDC62 eliminates the need to replace analog radio altimeters when digital-only TCAS receivers are installed.

The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) announces that applications for the 2016 Aviation Maintenance Technician Employer Award Program are available now through Feb. 26, 2016. This award program is designed to recognize companies that employ aviation maintenance technicians (AMT) and encourage and support AMT training. The award is based on the percentage of AMTs that participate in qualifying training events.

Flying Colours Corp., the North American MRO, completions, and refurbishment company, secures a Supplemental Type Certificate for ADS-B OUT for Bombardier Challenger 300 airframes from the US-based FAA. The first Bombardier Challenger 300 was outfitted with the soon-to-be mandatory tracking system in November 2015 at its St. Louis facility. The STC will be submitted for validation by both Transport Canada and Europe’s EASA this year.

West Star Aviation announces that its Grand Junction, CO location has been approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). West Star's Grand Junction location is now in compliance with the China Civil Aviation Regulation (CCAR)-Part 145 Maintenance Organization. The purpose of the approval includes overhauling and repairing landing gear for business aircraft and also specialized service of Ultrasonic, Eddy Current X-Ray, Liquid Penetrate and Magnetic Particle Inspection.
