Flying Colours Corp. confirms signing the first customer for INAIRVATION’s pre-engineered retro-fit cabin solution for Bombardier Global aircraft types. Flying Colours, which was named a North American partner by the Austrian-based joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and F/LIST during NBAA 2015, is already working with the European partners on the design engineering for the cabin. The undisclosed client confirmed the order in late April. Work on the project has already begun.

The Commemorative Air Force Southern California Wing announces that the North American PBJ Mitchell named Semper Fi returned to flight on May 15, 2016, after a 23-year restoration. Semper Fi is the only original PBJ flying in the world. During World War II the Marine Corps operated surplus B-25 Mitchells with the designation “PB” for patrol bomber. The Marines used the aircraft extensively in the South Pacific to routinely heckle and attack Japanese bases, as well as intercept enemy shipping.

The Flirtey drone used to make the first FAA-approved drone delivery in the United States has been accepted into the collection of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, where the space shuttle, Discovery, the SR-71 Blackbird and the first aircraft operated by FedEx are also displayed.  The six-rotor drone was used to deliver medication to a rural medical clinic in Wise, VA, on July 17, 2015, after the medication was flown to a regional airport by a remotely operated NASA winged aircraft. The carbon fiber and aluminum drone has a delivery system that lowers a package in a controlled manner while the drove hovers in place. Its built-in safety features include an automatic return-to-safe-location in case of a low battery, low GPS signal or communication loss.

Gateway USA, LLC, Clay Lacy Aviation, LLC, (Clay Lacy Aviation-Seattle) has been awarded a Federal Aviation Regulation Part 145 Repair Station Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Clay Lacy-Seattle is the only Part 145 repair station operating at King County International Airport/Boeing Field (KBFI). The prestigious designation allows the company to service a wider variety of corporate and private aircraft, including larger jets, with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repairs and alterations.

Machida Borescopes is set to showcase for the first time its latest addition to the Machida Videoscope family, the VSC-4-140-NLT. The borescope will be on display at Booth #535 at NBAA MMC 2016 in Kansas City, MO, from May 3-5. The new 4mm video borescope is fitted with a threaded, removable side view adapter. It is used by engine manufacturers and is approved for engine use.

Eastman Aviation Solutions announces it has been selected by Cathay Pacific Group for a main engine oil fleet conversion, exclusively utilizing Eastman Turbo Oil 2197 as the main engine oil fleet-wide. Cathay Pacific Airways recently reviewed its main engine oil requirements and benefits in anticipation of planned Airbus A350 deliveries as part of fleet expansion and modernization. The A350, powered by Trent XWB engines, is only approved for operation with high-performance capable (HPC) engine oils.

Duncan Aviation supports its local communities once again by awarding 20 students the Karen K. Duncan Scholarship. The company awards the children of its team members each year; each scholarship winner receives up to $4,000 for his or her college education—$1,000 a semester for up to two years. An independent committee reviewed applicants’ essays and assigned point values to them. Students also earned points for academic achievement, leadership, citizenship, career goals and extracurricular activities.
