ALOFT AeroArchitects Names Robert Sundin as New President/CEO, Moves John Martin to Chairman of the Board

ALOFT AeroArchitects announces that its board of directors has appointed Robert ‘Bob’ Sundin as president and chief executive officer, a move which will become effective November 28, 2016. Sundin was also named to the board of directors of ALOFT. John Martin, the current president/CEO, will move to the role of chairman of the ALOFT Board.

“We initiated the process of succession planning some time ago and established the key attributes we sought in the next leader to ensure the continued growth and performance of ALOFT,” says current president/CEO, John Martin. “Bob Sundin is a 30-year veteran of the aviation industry, having led large organizations within Bombardier, Landmark Aviation and Dassault Falcon Jet through transitional phases, while focused on operational excellence and topline growth. Bob has a proven ability to connect with both employees and customers at all levels and a track record of implementing strategies to execute on the vision for the business.”

Prior to joining ALOFT, Sundin most recently served as president of Dassault Aircraft Services, the U.S.-based MRO division of Dassault Falcon Jet. In his tenure at Dassault, Bob instilled a performance culture responsible for more than doubling revenue, while improving its reputation for quality and focus on customer support. Sundin also served in senior leadership positions overseeing MRO and airframe operations for Bombardier and Landmark/Garrett.

“I made the decision to join ALOFT because I highly valued the innovative ‘can-do’ culture, but also because the company has a uniquely diverse stable of products and services which offer exciting platforms for strategic growth,” says Sundin. “Over the past eight years, John Martin’s vision and leadership have instilled the core values and disciplines in the organization which has directly reestablished its reputation for quality, performance and customer service. My focus will be to oversee the next pivot of ALOFT’s business by leveraging John’s foundation of consistent performance into a period of growth in key business segments.”

Martin will assume the role of chairman of the board as of November 28. He will devote his time to supporting Sundin and ALOFT as they continue to execute its vision under the ownership of Moelis Capital Partners LLC. Martin has served as president/CEO of ALOFT (previously PATS Aircraft Systems) since November 2008. He has overseen the transition of ALOFT to a stand-alone company after the sale of the balance of DeCrane Aerospace to Goodrich in 2010, the transition of ALOFT into a Boeing Gold-rated supplier for delivery and quality, and a return to reputational and performance stability and the purchase by Moelis Capital Partners LLC in 2014.

“I’ve had the opportunity to join and lead a team of consummate professionals at ALOFT,” says Martin. “In my 35-year-plus career in aviation, I’ve never been part of an organization who are more vested in work they do each day, who are more dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and who believe more in the value of relationships and 'doing what they say.' As I turn over the helm to Mr. Sundin, our goal on the board will be to keep the sails full of wind as ALOFT navigates into an exciting future.”
