West Star Aviation announces it is performing its first 96-month Embraer Legacy 600 heavy inspection. The 96-month inspection will require the interior to be removed down to fuselage skins and frames, as well as all large exterior fairings, landing gear, flight controls, wing leading edges, and flaps to be removed. The inspection requires West Star to conduct various system functional tests and NDT inspections, as well as interior, corrosion and fuel tank inspections.

"With the growing popularity of Legacy aircraft, we are proud to be able to facilitate this inspection. This inspection requires 7-10 weeks of downtime, which requires advance planning as well as experienced well-trained technicians," says Joe Carr, Embraer program manager. "With the downtime we are able to perform other maintenance, and with the grand opening of our new 25,000-square-foot three-bay paint facility large enough to house Legacy Aircraft, we can service paint and interior as well."

West Star Aviation's state-of-the-art Grand Junction, CO, facility is an authorized Embraer service center for base maintenance. This inspection is one of two of the most extensive inspections on the Embraer Legacy aircraft. On average, over 3,000 labor hours are required to perform the inspection. Specialized equipment, as well as particular knowledge of the airframe and tooling, are also involved.

Voted #1 Preferred MRO in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Professional Pilot magazine annual “Preferences Regarding Aviation Services and Equipment” (PRASE) Survey, West Star Aviation specializes in the repair and maintenance of airframes, windows and engines, as well as major modifications, avionics installation and repair, interior refurbishment, surplus avionics sales, accessory services, paint and parts.

The company also provides complete FBO services for transient aircraft at its newly remodeled East Alton and Grand Junction facilities.
