ChatGPT

I'm in Washington, D.C. this week attending the NBAA Maintenance Committee fall meeting.

Yesterday, several fellow committee members asked me how ChatGPT is affecting my job. I told them that to be honest, I don't use ChatGPT. Maybe I'm behind the times?

One member told me he uses ChatGPT to help organize his daily schedule. So, being the curious person I am, I logged in to ChatGPT and asked, "How can ChatGPT help me organize my day?"

ChatGP's response:

ChatGPT can help you organize your day in several ways:

Task Planning: You can list out your tasks and responsibilities for the day, and ChatGPT can help you prioritize them based on importance and deadlines. It can also suggest a suitable order to tackle these tasks.

Time Blocking: ChatGPT can assist you in creating a structured schedule by allocating specific time blocks for each task. This helps you manage your time more efficiently and avoid overloading your day.

Reminders and Alerts: You can ask ChatGPT to set up reminders for important meetings, appointments, or deadlines. It can even help you schedule regular breaks to avoid burnout.

Goal Setting: If you have broader goals you're working towards, ChatGPT can provide advice on how to break them down into smaller, actionable steps and integrate them into your daily routine.

Prioritization: ChatGPT can help you determine which tasks are most important and need immediate attention. This can prevent you from feeling overwhelmed and ensure that you're focusing on tasks that align with your goals.

Meal Planning: If you want to optimize your day further, you can ask ChatGPT to help you plan your meals, ensuring you have a balanced and nutritious diet throughout the day.

Fitness and Self-Care: ChatGPT can help you allocate time for exercise, meditation, or other self-care activities that contribute to your overall well-being.

Adjusting on the Fly: If unexpected events arise during the day, you can consult ChatGPT to help you reorganize your schedule and manage the changes effectively.

Breaking Procrastination: ChatGPT can provide motivational prompts or techniques to overcome procrastination and stay focused on your tasks.

Reflection and Review: At the end of the day, you can discuss with ChatGPT how well you followed your schedule and what could be improved for the next day's planning.

Remember that while ChatGPT can provide helpful advice and suggestions, it's important to tailor its recommendations to your personal preferences and circumstances. Additionally, developing good organizational habits over time will lead to better overall time management and productivity.

Another committee member told me he uses it to plan meals. So, my next prompt to ChatGPT was, "Plan a low-carb meal for two."

Voila! -Up popped a low-carb recipe for lemon grilled chicken with zucchini.

Then I asked it to create a shopping list for the recipe. A shopping list popped up! Then I asked it to email me the shopping list. Its reply:

"I'm sorry for any confusion, but I don't have access to your email or the ability to send emails. However, you can easily copy and paste the shopping list I provided into your preferred email application or note-taking tool to create a shopping list for yourself. If you have a smartphone, you could also take a screenshot of the list for quick reference while shopping."

I guess that's a good thing. I wouldn't want the early version of SkyNet sending emails on my behalf.

Do you use ChatGPT in your professional or personal life? Other than this quick experiment, I still don't. But I will be keeping an eye on it.

Or maybe it will be keeping an eye, or should I say ear, on me? Alexa and Siri already do.

But that's another topic for another day.

Thanks for reading,

Joe
