NBAA Charities Announces Eddie Queen Business Aviation Management Scholarship

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) announces that NBAA Charities, in coordination with Signature Flight Support, has established the Eddie Queen Business Aviation Management Scholarship.

The scholarship was created to honor the memory of Queen, a Signature Flight Support line service technician for 58 years. His dedication and commitment to his profession was an inspiration not only to his coworkers at Signature, but also to those who had the good fortune to benefit from his service.

“Eddie was truly our shining star. He was regularly recognized for his exceptional service to our customers and received many commendations that acknowledged his terrific commitment and dedication to service at Signature in Newark, NJ,” says Maria Sastre, president and COO of Signature Flight Support. “Pro Pilot magazine recognized him for 10 consecutive years for his renowned service, including five years as ‘North America’s Best Line Service Technician.’ He will be missed.”

NBAA Charities and Signature Flight Support will annually award $2,500 to an undergraduate student enrolled in an aviation management program at a University Aviation Association (UAA) member school. Applicants must show a passion for aviation and demonstrate superior customer service skills, as Queen did.

The application deadline is Aug. 22, 2014. The first award recipient will be announced at the 2014 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA2014), to be held from Oct. 21 to 23 in Orlando, FL.
