Jet Aviation St. Louis Completes Supplemental Type Certificates for Installation of Satcom Direct Router on Global Express, XRS, 5000, and 6000

Jet Aviation St. Louis has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for installation of the Satcom Direct Router (SDR) in the Global Express, XRS, 5000, and 6000 models.

“Jet Aviation St. Louis has the expertise and technical capability to install Satcom’s impressive SDR upgrade that delivers better bandwidth to push more data and enables Wi-Fi,” says Blake Hogge, senior manager, Avionics Sales. “Now we have the STCs to complete that installation in the Express, XRS, 5000, and 6000.”

STCs are issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) when an applicant has received FAA approval to modify an aircraft from its original design. An STC approves not only the modification, but also how that modification affects the original design, according to the FAA.

Satcom says the SDR allows business aviation customers to manage all cabin communications systems with simultaneous use of Inmarsat Swift 64, SwiftBroadband, Ku-Band, and Ka-Band satellite connections with intelligent traffic control. It is compatible with most Wi-Fi access points and supports up to four wireless networks. Satcom notes that an STC is required by the FAA for installation and use of the SDR in customers’ aircraft.
