Conklin & de Decker Renames Scholarship in Honor of Bill de Decker

Conklin & de Decker announces it is renaming the Alan H. Conklin Scholarship to be the Al Conklin and Bill de Decker Business Aviation Management Scholarship, to honor Bill de Decker, co-founder of Conklin & de Decker. The new designation was introduced at the NBAA Scholarship press conference in October.

This annual scholarship was established in 2008 to honor Alan H. Conklin, founder of Conklin & de Decker, a US Air Force veteran, author, father, husband and business aviation leader for more than 60 years, who passed away in 2006. Alan Conklin was an active member and supporter of NBAA for many years and served on the Operations Committee until his retirement in 2003. His aviation career spanned more than six decades.

In 1989, Bill joined Al at the company he founded and together they successfully built Conklin & de Decker into a multi-million dollar company that is now celebrating its 30th year in business. Bill was instrumental in developing new programs and seminars for the company. His areas of expertise and where he continues to provide his consulting services today, cover financial management, business and fleet planning, certification issues, life cycle cost and operations. Bill served on NBAA’s Associate Member Advisory Council from 1999 to 2005 and was named the John P “Jack” Doswell award recipient at the 2014 NBAA Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition.

The $5,000 scholarship is awarded to a student attending a University Aviation Association (UAA) affiliated college and who is specializing in aviation management. The 2015 Al Conklin and Bill de Decker Business Aviation Management Scholarship will be announced during next year’s NBAA Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada, November 17-19, 2015.
