NATA ANNOUNCES NEW WORKERS’ COMPENSATION INSURANCE PROGRAM

The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) today announced a new Workers’ Compensation Insurance Program that rewards safety by making it possible for participating members to enjoy an annual return on insurance payments whenever annual premiums collected for the program exceed the administrative and claims costs for an individual year.

The program is administered by AirSure Limited, one of the world’s largest providers of insurance brokerage services for the aviation industry.

This new NATA Workers Compensation Program replaces the previous plan NATA had in place in recent years, which was concluded on December 31, 2014.

“In designing an effective new program for our members, we wanted to create a meaningful incentive to reward good safety practices,” says NATA president and CEO Thomas L. Hendricks. “We elected to work specifically with insurance providers with solid experience in the aviation industry – and who carried a minimum
A-rating from A.M. Best. It was also very important to select a highly reliable administrator with a proven track record.”

AirSure Limited created the first NATA Workers’ Compensation Insurance Program and served as its original administrator for more than 30 years. During that time, financial returns to participating members (called Good Experience Returns) averaged some 19.3%. “Returns like those are significant on any investment, much less on insurance coverage that is considered mandatory for most companies to carry,” says Hendricks. “I am extremely proud of the program we now have in place, along with AirSure’s leadership of it.”
Like all NATA members, member participants in the new NATA Workers’ Compensation Insurance Program will have access to the NATA’s industry-leading NATA Safety 1st Education & Training programs, and to the full services of the organization. NATA will contact its membership in the coming weeks to answer questions and provide additional information on the new program, including how to immediately qualify and participate.
