FlightSafety introduces proficiency protection program to help business aircraft pilots and Maintenance Technicians who have become unemployed
Pilots and maintenance technicians who have become involuntarily unemployed during 2009 may be eligible to receive a training course at no cost from FlightSafety between now and year end.
LaGuardia Airport, New York (June 23, 2009) – FlightSafety International announces the Proficiency Protection™ Program* designed to help pilots and maintenance technicians of business aircraft who have become involuntarily unemployed since January 1, 2009.
“FlightSafety’s mission is to enhance aviation safety by providing professional training that helps to ensure our Customers reach and maintain the highest level of proficiency,” said Bruce Whitman, President & CEO. “Our Proficiency Protection Program will help pilots and technicians who have become involuntarily unemployed to maintain their proficiency by providing no cost training while they look for new employment opportunities. This further demonstrates our support for the business aviation community and commitment to enhance safety.”
FlightSafety will offer a no cost recurrent training course to pilots of business aircraft who were training under a Full Service contract at the time of involuntary job loss. The training will be provided in an aircraft type the pilot trained on under that agreement. Maintenance technicians who were enrolled in FlightSafety’s Master Technician program at the time of involuntary job loss may receive the next course towards their Master Technician rating at no cost.
The program will remain in effect until December 31, 2009. FlightSafety will schedule the training on an as available basis and it must be started while the pilot or technician is unemployed. To be eligible, the loss of employment must be as a result of a staff reduction or job elimination that has occurred since January 1, 2009. Those who have been provided FlightSafety training by a company, organization or individual since their job loss, or have been laid off temporarily, furloughed, become unemployed for other reasons, are not eligible.
The pilots and technicians who take advantage of this program are not required to repay the cost of the course or to enter into a new training agreement with FlightSafety once re-employed.
